OAPN welcomes Ohio Presenters from Canton Palace Theatre, Akron Civic Theatre, and Kent State at Tuscarawas to discuss Presenting.

Panel Includes: Georgia Paxos (Canton Palace Theatre), Howard Parr (Akron Civic Theatre), and David Mitchell (Performing Arts Center at Kent State University – Tuscarawas)

Georgia Paxos, Executive Director of the Canton Palace Theatre, was born and raised in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area. Georgia is a graduate of George Mason University, where she majored in Communications and received a minor in International Relations. Georgia moved to Canton in July 2003 after marrying Canton native, Mike Paxos. She was hired as the Executive Director of the Canton Palace Theatre in July 2007. Under her direction, the Theatre has increased its attendance, offered more diverse programming, and has completed over $1.9 million in capital improvements since 2012.

Howard Parr, Executive Director of the Akron Civic Theatre since September 2007, also served as its director of development and planning from 1998–2004, during which the theatre completed a $22.5 million expansion and restoration project. In addition to his work with The Civic, Howard provides booking assistance to the City of Akron’s Lock Three Park and to the University of Akron’s E.J. Thomas Hall. Parr has more than 30 years of professional experience in the arts and entertainment industry.

David Mitchell, General Manager of the Performing Arts Center at Kent State University – Tuscarawas in New Philadelphia, Ohio, oversees all programming, marketing, educational outreach, and community engagement for the 1,100-seat venue. Prior to this role, he worked in event management and provided security and personnel solutions for some of the most significant sports, entertainment, and business expositions in the world such as the Kentucky Derby and the PGA Championship. David spent 15 years as the Operations Manager of Broadway Across America in Indianapolis, Louisville, Kansas City, and Birmingham where he worked on over 160 Broadway tours. He is a founding Board Member and current Vice President of Tuscarawas Arts Partnership, a newly formed county-wide arts council. David earned a BSBA in Management from Ohio Northern University and an MBA from Indiana University.
