BOARD RECRUITMENT

By volunteering service on the Ohio Arts Professionals Network Board of Directors, one commits to the following principles, philosophies, and practices:

Our Mission: Ohio Arts Professionals Network (OAPN) is a member-based organization whose mission is to support and grow the touring Arts & Culture industry in Ohio.

Our Vision: OAPN will be the premiere member organization in the state of Ohio that artists, agents, and presenters go to when participating in the touring arts industry.

Expectations of a Board Member:

  • Knowledge of Our Mission. Represent. Know the organization’s mission, policies, programs, and needs. OAPN is often invited to attend or participate in virtual and in-person events throughout the year. We ask that if you are called upon to represent OAPN that you will do so.

  • Participate. Serve. Leverage. This is a working board. Board Members will prepare for, attend, and conscientiously participate in hour long monthly board conference calls via Zoom, participate fully in one or more committees, be a member in good standing with OAPN, and leverage connections, networks, and resources to develop collective action to fully achieve the organization’s mission.

  • Attend. Promote. Support. We ask that you not only show up for our in-person conference, but also help us promote it by sharing to your socials and spreading the word through your line of contacts. Be an advocate for OAPN. Promote our organization to fellow arts professionals across the state of Ohio and beyond.

  • Contribute. COI. Board service includes agreeing to OAPN’s Give/Get Policy. We recognize that board members may not be in a position to donate large sums to the organization. However, a key part of board service is bringing in funds to support the organization beyond membership and registration fees. Every member is designated to do one or more of the following: donate, provide in-kind services, bring in new members, or bring in a minimum of $300 from outside sources. Sign a Conflict of Interest Policy and update it regularly if necessary.

  • Time Commitment. We understand that everyone’s schedule is different. Board Members understand that there is time commitment to this role. The amount of time can fluctuate throughout the year depending on meetings, programs, and other activities. Please expect roughly 1-4 hours per month dedicated to this board.

  • Have Fun. This is the Arts, we are all here because we have a passion for or play an active role within the performing arts community. Have fun with your board responsibilities and let your enthusiasm show.

Details on committee structure, Board service, and elections can be found in OAPN’s Code of Regulations. Please refer to this document for guidance on how OAPN is structured and how the Board of Directors plays a vital role in the health and well-being of the organization.
